Description
The Hungarian AMP 69 is a licensed copy of the Soviet AK/AKM family of weapons, which was specifically designed to fire muzzle launched rifle grenades.
Although it utilizes the same Soviet 7.62×39mm cartridge, Visually the AMP 69 is significantly modified. The most noticeable changes are the spring loaded/shock absorbing handguard, shock absorbing (folding) stock, a grenade launching muzzle attachment and a removable grenade sight which is attached to the left hand side scope rail.
When firing a rifle grenade, the standard magazine would be replaced by one that could only hold ten blank cartridges. The internal dimensions of this magazine were reduced to prohibit the insertion of live ammunition. The gas block also featured a switch to effectively close off the gas vent and divert all the gases forward into base of the projectile.
Like all other licensed Kalashnikov’s, the AMP 69 has not only seen use within its own state, but also globally with regular/irregular forces and more recently terrorist groups throughout the Middle East.
