Description
The original Colt Cobra was produced from 1950 to 1981 and proved a popular weapon of choice for law enforcement officers and as a general personal protection piece public use.
Like all civilian owned firearms, any ‘claim to fame’ often accompanies a dark period of history. For instance one of the early models was used by Jack Ruby to kill Lee Harvey Oswald, shortly after his arrest for shooting JFK. It was also a well known ‘weapon of choice’ for kingpins of the much feared Sicilian Mafia.
After a 35 year break in the Cobra’s production, in 2017 Colt released this updated design, which can now be fired with +P (Overpressure) ammunition. This generates greater muzzle velocity which gives the .38 Special ammunition more stopping power.
