Description
Utilizing the powerful .357 Magnum cartridge, the carbon steel Model 19 was first introduced in 1957, as sidearm for U.S. Immigration and Border Patrol officers.
To cater to a varied market, like other revolvers in their inventory, the Model 19 was offered in a blued finish, for official/government use and a shinny/nickel-plated finish, which is often deemed more appealing to the civilian collector.
In 1970 a stainless steel version of the Model 19 was released as the Model 66. Aside from the the use of stainless steel, the only other notable difference was the utilization of a target/match shooting style of trigger.
Like the Model 19, over the years a number of Model 66 variants have been produced, in fact 8 in total (66 to 66-8). These variants usually signified a component upgrade/design modification, such as this variant, the 66-2, which had a slight increase to its cylinder length.
